My expectations for Bulgaria to enter the Top 10 of German tourists’ rank list for 2008 season were confirmed 100%, said Dimitar Karanenov – deputy chairman of the Association of Restaurant and Hotel Keepers in Bulgaria. The data presented by the analyst agency GI-ATA - Hoteidatenbank Ranking is based on the reservations in 16,000 tourist bureaus in Germany that offer vacations in over 60,000 hotels around the world. Bulgaria has climbed to the prestigious 9th position, outstripping countries like Portugal and a series of other popular destinations. The reasons for the leap in the Germans’ preferences are the relatively low prices of the tourist products offered in Bulgaria, which is combined with the convenient charter flights, Karanenov says.
