Solvent tourists agree to pay from EUR 120 to EUR 180 a day to see rare birds or protected plants in Bulgaria. The price includes food, transport, hotel, guide, and site securing. Bulgarian tour-operators offer alternative two-week vacations at the price of about EUR 1500, while their British colleagues offer prices of GBP 1000-2000.
Every year Bulgaria is visited in that line by about 5000 tourists from Europe, USA and Australia, says Dobromir Domuschiev from the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism.
