Sun, Sea and Woods


8 days, 7 nights, 6 days riding! You will embark on a romantic adventure galloping along the azure Black Sea coast.

The sea waves will take you to the magical world of Strandzha mountain, mysterious, wrapped in secrets and legends. You will be part of the ancient practices witnessing the ritual dance over embers, coming from the remote past and preserved to this day.

About the horses:
They are an excellent and extremely suitable for the riding terrain selection of Shagya, Arabian and Eastern Bulgarian breed. They are friendly and well trained. Height between 1,50 and 1,60 metres. The saddles are cavalry and Western type, the weight limit for the horse riders is 100kg.

Itinerary description day by day:
Route: the city of Bourgas, the village of Bourgas, the village of Varvara, the village of Sinemorets, the village of Brodilovo, the village of Bulgari, the village of Lozenets.

Day 1: Bourgas - Lozenets 3-star hotel
Arrival in the village of Lozenets and the hotel offering the guests a cool swimming pool and delicious meals. Meet your guides and the horses. Leisure time until dinner – a walk on the beach round the resort village.

Day 2: Lozenets - Varvara Ride 4 hours 2-star hotel
After breakfast you will saddle your horse for your first ride to the nearby beach. You will get to know and become friends with your horse. Lunch in the hotel restaurant. After lunch the real ride begins. Gallop over the boundless plateaus above the sea and enjoy a breathtaking view. The ride continues through picturesque boead-leaved woods and seacoast beaches near the fishing village of Varvara. The days ends with a dinner in the

Day 3: Varvara - Sinemorets Ride 4 hours Bungalows
After breakfast – a boat trip in search of dolphins. Lunch in a fishing hut, homecooked fish specialties prepared from the morning catch. After lunch ride to the village of Sinemorets along panoramic coastal trails and shady forests. Accommodation in bunlgalows, dinner in the camping site restaurant. Height difference: +/ 20m

Day 4: Sinemorets - Brodilovo Ride 4 hours Guesthouse
After breakfast ride along the coastline to the mouth of the Veleka river – enjoy the adventures and swimming with the horses in the sea. The ride continues along the clear water of the river all the way to the village of Brodilovo. At this point you are in Strandzha mountain, amidst the mysteries of the Bulgarian traditions and rituals. Accommodation in a guesthouse, dinner in the restaurant in the center of the village. Height difference: + 50m

Day 5: Brodilovo - Kosti Ride 5 hours Family hotel
The day starts with a ride along the Veleka river to the village of Kosti, where will visit the local Orthodox church "St.St.Cyril and Methodius". After lunch – ride through the nature reserve "Sylkozya" to the ancient village of Bulgari. The ancient pagan ritual of Nestinastvo is still preserved there. Accommodation and dinner in the cosy hotel tavern. Height difference: + 420m.

Day 6: Bulgari - Lozenets Ride 5 hours 3-star hotel
Ride from the village of Bulgari past the chapel "Sveta Troitsa" (Holy Trinity) through the picturesque canyon "Trionsky Dol" and along the river with the same name to the village of Lozenets. Lunch – picnic by the river. Accommodation in Lozenets. Dinner in the hotel restaurant. Height difference: - 450m.

Day 7: Lozenets Ride 3 hours 3-star hotel
After breakfast - local ride along the Black Sea coastline and near the village of Lozenets. Lunch in the hotel restaurant. After lunch bathing and swimming with the horses in the sea. Farewell dinner in the hotel. Height difference: +/- 50m.

Day 8: Lozenets - Bourgas
After breakfast – say goodbye to the guides and the horses. Departure from the village of Lozenets. In the case of transfer from Burgos Airport after 5p.m. there is an opportunity to visit and go sightseeing in one of the oldest Black Sea towns in Bulgaria – Sozopol.

Riding level
Required experience – it is necessary that the rider feels comfortable on the horse at the three basic paces and to have good control in rough terrain. Horses are good-tempered and suited for the mountain landscape, they are brave and easily get over natural obstacles on the way (rivers, small gullies, fallen trees). They are not afraid of cars and ride with ease on busy roads and urban areas.
Rider's involvement – Riders are expected to groom and tack up their own horse each day in
preparation for rides, untack during the breaks and at the end of the day. This will, of course,happen with supervision and help.
Riding days – 6 days
Riding hours a day – 4 –5 hours
Paces: every day each of the three types depending on the terrain – trot (40% of the ride),
gallop (20% of the ride), and walk (40% of the ride).

Itinerary characteristics
Terrain – rough mountain terrain with climbs and descents. There are level sections as well, with smooth road for a faster pace. Getting over natural obstacles, rivers, hollows.
Climate – temperate continental, cool nights at higher regions, warm summer days. There is
possibility of frequent and occasional rains in the spring-summer period.
Accommodation – double rooms in 2- and 3-star hotels, bungalows and family hotels
Distance from urban areas – during the ride the furthest point is 10-15km away from urban
areas. There are scattered small mountain villages and hamlets and more rarely bigger towns.
Cross-cultural awareness - Let us show respect and tolerance for different cultures ways of
life and traditions.
